I am new to this forum, and not quite sure why I didn't seek online support before. I was diagnosed with P.T.S.D. over a year ago by a psychiatrist. I live in a low-populated state, so finding local support for people with this disorder is nearly impossible. I a simply here to meet others who also suffer from this disorder, gain support, find new ways to cope, and also to share my story with others so that they too, will not feel the seclusion and feelings of "I'm different from everyone else around me".
In a nutshell, I was in an extremely abusive relationship for a year and half. The abuse ranged from rape, torture, confinement, control, physical abuse, abused with numerous weapins such as wrenches, belts, knives, rope, saws, tire irons, glass bottles, etc. I am having trouble mostly so much with this because I have a 4 year old daughter who was born out of this relationship.
I am no longer in the abusive situation, nor is she. (we left and moved 1,200 miles away for safety when she was 2 months old). I am engaged now to a wonderful man, and we have a beautiful life now. However, no matter how wonderful things appear on the outside, my disorder keeps things chaotic on the inside. Any support would be great. God bless.
