Normal Emotions???

Today at work was so strange. I got up this morning with a backache and headache. Took an ibuprofen and went to work. All of a sudden about half an hour into work I started feeling really giddy and goofy. My co-workers were making fun of me. Their used to me being either quiet or cranky. Then they asked if I took some drugs this morning. I thought... No just the regular meds plus ibuprofen. Then I started getting scared about this new symptom( is that the right word) because I've been having jumbled thoughts lately and very emotional. Is this just happiness ( don't know that word lol) ? Am I so caught up in this PTSD whirlwind that I don't know normal emotions. Or dut dut duh... Something else is coming

What are your regular meds? I was in Remeron for quite awhile before I started getting mini- highs off of it.

It is possible for side effects to kick in after you've been on a medication for awhile, even though some doctors sort of dismiss the idea. If you think it's related to your meds, talk to your doc about it. Of course it could be completely unrelated. Monitor your behavior (keep detailed notes including dates/times when your behavior changes, etc) so that you can see any patterns and can discuss it with your doctor. Of course, it may be unrelated to your medication, as maybe you are just feeling better. I just worry as you describe a giddiness and jumbled thoughts and I've experienced those as medication side effects myself.

Have you taken ibuprofen with your normal medications before? If not, it could be some strange interaction between them.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I will talk to my doctor about it. I've been having lots of strange feelings and emotions since my second trauma. I now have the flashbacks, nightmares and insomnia but these new feelings are they also PTSD related. Some days I just feel like I'm losing my mind and want to head straight to the psych ward. It's just so scary

They do list "confusion" under side effects for citalopram. Or maybe you are somewhat happy? Maybe take it easy and see what the doctor says?

I've had certain emotions feel very strange at times, even if it's "normal" it feels strange to me. (And sometimes very frightening, but not recently thank goodness.)

Thanks @greenleaf... It makes me feel so much better when others understand.

I guess it just started to freak me out when my co-workers were so taken aback by my exuberant mood.
