Partial Dissociation - Can You Help Me Understand It Better!

I was just about to ask a similar question so thank you for this thread.

It happened to me the other day at the end of my therapy session. I'd disclosed some information and my T asked me if I'd felt alone. I just felt so exposed and wanted to block her out.. She moved onto something else to finish up and I honestly can't remember a thing she said. I was totally in my own world in my child's brain, yet I continued to try to act as though I knew what she was talking about. So confusing.

I think @pixel your analogy makes so much sense of it.

How do you cope during dissociation without amnesia?

You basically feel like an outsider, as in; you do witness everything but can do nothing about it. Therefore I just wait for that moment to pass and then later, considering I remember all of what has occurred, I try to reprocess it and try to every time learn to accept it better.

I hope that answers your question Shankara. :)
