I was just about to ask a similar question so thank you for this thread.
It happened to me the other day at the end of my therapy session. I'd disclosed some information and my T asked me if I'd felt alone. I just felt so exposed and wanted to block her out.. She moved onto something else to finish up and I honestly can't remember a thing she said. I was totally in my own world in my child's brain, yet I continued to try to act as though I knew what she was talking about. So confusing.
I think @pixel your analogy makes so much sense of it.
