Journalists ask them what they're protesting and none can give an logical answer. All they have is that they hate Trump.
I protest because I believe in the rule of law and free markets, limited government that does what it can to push forward an agenda but stays inside the guardrails of the constitution it was sworn to protect. Those are the big reasons I could name for anyone that asked me why I was at a protest without reaching into my big bag of reasons I hate trump.
Once that bag is open and I start dumping the contents we are probably done with the questions and answers and off into the realms of deciding which side we were on this morning when we woke up and where we will be when we go to bed tonight so why bother?
But, as long as I have been asked:
In that big bag of reasons I hate trump, right on top of the piles of amazingly uninformed quotes attributed to him, resting upon the lumps of horribly insensitive things he has done, riding along with the felony convictions, his mishandling of the corona virus national health crisis, his absolutely amateurish attempt to stage a coup, the incredible open acceptance of bribery and his unfounded profiteering of the presidency, in there with all of the other reasons I hate him is the biggest one I would reach for first:
We have a long history of trying to get it right here in this great experiment of a nation, working sometimes at odds but together in our effort to make this a more perfect union. That all goes away if you don't have the rules of civil debate in place and he has made it clear that as long as he is in charge any debate or dissent or even the results of a national election can be thrown under a veil of mistrust and doubt.
If you dont play by the rules you wont win, but if you get the ball in your hands and keep it you can end the game and no one wins and that seems to be his plan. Gain an alliance of sycophants, stifle the critics, frustrate anyone that just wants to play the game by the rules and then declare victory and new rules and there you have my opinion of donald trumps agenda for making america great again. Chaos and then the inevitable scramble for leadership positions followed by the paniced dissilusioned masses clutching at any semblance of leadership they are offered. Or, he has no hidden agenda and all of this is just my opinion of what will happen after this mental toddler finally wanders into traffic.
PS
I protest my representatives in washington wringing their hands and watching as he tears down the work that has built a strong judiciary over the 250 years since John Adams, as he mishandles a defense department that has been adjusting and setting new standards for behavior over the 250 years since George Washington, as he terrorizes (yes, he strikes terror in) the free press that has been a tenant of this nation since Ben Franklin and before him Peter Zenger.
I dont know who will step up and stop this if my representatives in washington dont or cant. And so far, just a lot of hand wringing and scrambling for coherant leadership within BOTH parties.
As an independant that leaned republican I protest the death of the republican party. As a Patriotic American i protest the loss of the rule of law and adherance to the constitution and the bill of rights. I protest the lack of debate and the contrived mistrust of our elections. As a grandfather I protest the hollow vacuum he will leave behind and the horrible thought of rebuilding this government without leadership from within EITHER of the two parties currently in place.
Or, if you believe the rhetoric, I am just another sign toting whistle blowing paid representative of Antifa. Yeah, thats me and my friends, and we deserve to be shot or at least gassed. We definitely deserve to be ignored and our beliefs called into question.
Yeah, I know, sarcasm rules.
