I had a doctor, when we were trying to find out answers for a medical ailment, she blamed it on depression. I told her I wasn't depressed and she told I was and that I wouldn't know despite my years of experience. Stopped seeing her and my ailment turned out to be a problem with my autonomic system.
Went to a neuro doctor because of difficulties I was having with walking. Soon as he read I suffered from depression, which he brought up, he did a half a@@ed exam and told me it was nothing just my depression. I left in tears. I found out the medication I was on was too high and it caused those symptoms I was having.
My mother had shingles. Shortly after it she was barely able to walk(it was sad) and couldn't feel things in her hands. We were referred to a neurologist. Keep in mind my mother was a woman who, with kids and no support, put herself through nursing school. Always worked hard and was one tough woman. Anyhow, after the doctor took information from her, and she was sitting in her underwear, vulnerable, she told him that her daughter, my sister, was just diagnosed with MS. Soon as she said that, he told her that it wasn't uncommon when someone you know is diagnosed with something like MS that they come up with the symptoms themselves. I almost knocked his little self to the floor. Instead I maintained composure and told him under no uncertain terms was this that and he needed to figure out what was going on. He performed an electrical test on her(forgot what it was called), wasn't getting any reaction from her and thought the machine was broken. Then he tried it on his self and got the shock of his life. We found a new doctor after her second visit with him where he talked down to her, as if she wasn't a nurse who had some knowledge of the medical field. I told her she didn't need that abuse.
When my son was a baby, the nurse went to do a rectal temperature on my son. I felt like I was going to hyperventilate. I told the doctor that they were never allowed to do that again. They must of wrote that on his chart because it never, ever happened again.
Definitely have more stories, spent a lot of time in the medical environment, but I'll end here.
