@DharmaGirl i have to really speak up for myself right now. I'm was and currently am a major supporter! I have been there for any and all reasons needed by my sufferer! If he was down, I was there, if he were sick, I was there, if he needed me financially, I was there! Anytime and everytime, I WAS THERE! Luckily for both of us, I'm still there and he seems to be there as well. I'm not saying that all supporters are perfect and support the way they should, but I'm one of the ones who walk through rain and snow to bring medication to my sufferer.

I don't understand why you are telling me this. I answered the OPs questions, and asked some of my own, and shared my personal experience. What does that have to do with what you said. I read through the entire thread again, and I don't think I was being offensive. The OP asked sufferers to answer questions and I did. Why are you telling me with yelling words that you are a supporter. That is your personal choice. My personal choice is to not have someone. Namaste

This is how I see it.

"Supporter" REALLY means (PTSD) supporter, with the PTSD part being understood.

I support my guy with his stuff but he doesn't have PTSD so I'm not a (PTSD) supporter.

It's not a subordinate/dominant or weaker/stronger type of relationship. He just gives more than a damn about me (lol) and naturally wants to see that I'm taken care of......or more importantly, that I'm taking care of myself.

As for the OP's question, I tend to make clean breaks and just run. One guy was like a yo-yo but we were never seriously committed.
