Okay, that's it for real, I promise! My other favourites can not be connected to PTSD but are mostly about cats! :rolleyes:

Dust- I was just about to type one of my favourites "there's a crack in everything that's how the light gets in" Leonard Cohen, I had no idea Spike Milligan had written something similar. I love how it turns perspective on its head.

Camus' also interesting I've heard some people say that the lead character in L'Etranger had PTSD.

I also love Desiderata (Max Ehrmann)
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him (or Her) to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

So, I have to admit - I actually cried the other night when Hillary Clinton gave her speech at the DNC. I don't know if it's me coming off the meds or PMS or what, but certain things have been touching me lately, that I feel like never would have sparked any flame for me otherwise.

Anyway, Hillary quoted Harriet Tubman, and that's when the tears came:

If you hear the dogs, keep going.

If you see the torches in the woods, keep going.

If they're shouting after you, keep going.

Don't ever stop. Keep going.

If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.

To be acknowledged for who and what I am, no more, no less. Not for acclaim, not for approval, but, the simple truth of that recognition. This has been the elemental drive of my existence, and it must be achieved, if I am to live or die with dignity.

-Andrew Martin (played by Robin Williams)
Bicentennial Man

When I dare to be powerful,
To use my strength in the service
Of my vision,
Then it becomes less and
Less important whether I am afraid

and

"“If you find yourself going through hell, keep going.” Winston S Churchill.

Come to think of it, lots of churchill is good stuff. Of course, he suffered with depression. He was one of us in a way. I like that. I like the "never give in. Never, never, never, etc"

Theres an old Yorkshire saying as well,

"Never give in, never give up"

I know the john wayne one is dead cheesy but i say it to myself in the stage fright before every lecture.

I don't know if song lyrics count?

I will not pretend
I will not put on a smile
I will not say I'm all right for you
