Site Minor Improvements

To improve overall site performance, look and feel, I am making some minor changes around the site.

The forumhome top poster and newest members have now been removed, as they've always exists on the member page, [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/members/[/DLMURL], though I've now upped their limits on the member page to show the top 40 of both, as that page has the necessary sidebar real estate to effectively accomplish this.

The homepage is now slightly amended, removing new threads and other information from the page, and instead the page now pulls the latest 20 threads that have been posted upon, from specific PUBLIC only forums, automatically.

In other words, the page will continuously change based on what is most recently being discussed. The positioning uses the date order of the thread, not the date order of the posts... so the latest post on a thread could show it at the bottom of the page, middle or top, hence the entire page is consistently changing with fresh content that members are discussing.

I think I am missing something as the only threads showing up on the Home page are pinned threads. Please don't take away the "What's new" button.

Venusian, what's new is still there. But some things on that bar buttons have changed.

Go to forums>What's new? New threads will be shown.

Thanks for the direction, I knew where the button is. My point is that it is only pinned threads that are showing up and some of them are locked and have had no discussion on them. Others haven't been discussed in over a year.

Problem solved. Don't confuse the 'pin' image on each item as 'sticky' threads. The homepage had existing promoted threads and some stickies, but it also had some fresh.

Now, it has all the freshest content constantly updated based on what is being posted upon. Correctly!

Oh... and remember it is only specific forums, not all forums. The feed also has a 5 minute cache upon it, to reduce the load on the server.

Thanks for mentioning this. I confess I ignored new threads because of watching the 'pin' image and thought they are old sticky threads.

I think this forum is very easier to navigate. :tup: Motivated to learn more and cure myself. :)

I'm a little bit confused right now, because I can't find the "birthday-list" of the members anymore... Where do I find it now?

There was never a birthday list... there was an events system, which is currently disabled because it lacked usage. Having that entire system to display birthdays as a consequence of the system, was not a viable use of system resources.
