I'm so nervous. I'm nervous because the school has like 30,000 people which is ten times the size of my high school and in high school I used to have panic attacks every passing period, and I'm nervous bc I'm staying far away from the school and the busses take like 2 hours each way and I'm not sure how I will get enough sleep with morning and night class and the busses plus I also work......plus finances and I still have to buy textbooks.....idk man. I already feel like my life is so busy, you know? And like I am already so absentminded..I'm quite nervous so if you guys could offer support? I might check in the morning when I wake up or between classes. I have a pretty long break in the afternoon (like almost 3 hours) and I think I can use the library computers for anything I want..

You'll be ok- I had that when I returned to Uni the first time I started suffering attacks.

If it helps, be early, pick a nice spot near the door, ( I had my lorazapam handy for any attack ), and don't be afraid to advise your prof of the condition. You should be able to get a disability/student recognition that can help a lot with exams, assistance, etc.

Everyone new at university/college is nervous I gaurantee..... just do what you need to do to learn and gain from it. Use the gym, or swim, take a fitness course during your breaks, it'll help relieve some stress.

Good luck.

There are sooooooo many awesome things about university that are the polar opposite from highschool.

- You can come and go as you please. Really.

- You can set your own class schedule (most straight from highschool students make the mistake of trying to load up on courses, or fill every day, like they were back at highschool. No. Need. People set up their course loads and schedules to suit themselves. 1 class 4 days a week (1 M/W class, 1 Tu/Th class), 3 classes 2 days a week (3 on Tuesday, 3 on Thursday). Dozens and dozens of possible variations. Your first couple quarters will be a learning experience in what kind of schedule you like. :D I smile, because learning experiences suck, but the end result is classes when & where you want them & like them!

- You get a syllabus with each and every single homework assignment, project, quiz, & test written down on it for you. I swear, it felt like cheating when I first got them. OMFG. So. Damn. Useful. Knowing what's coming and how to set up my life around that??? Talk about a ways lower anxiety!

- If you don't like your professor? You can switch classes! No more being stuck with an asshole all year long! You can either just never take one of their classes again, or -especially early in the quarter- change your schedule around to be taking the same class from someone else! The first few weeks are FULL of people changing things around to suit themselves. It's not a weird, strange, or looked down upon thing to do.

- So many other things :) The two systems of education couldn't be more different from each other.

Yeah @Friday is absolutely right. College is nothing like high school. You can make your class schedule and experience as comfortable for you as you need too! And there should be plenty of places on campus such as the library, maybe the computer labs, and other areas where you can go to have quiet study time if you need to be away from people or you can go home. College is really a laid back experience, and again like Friday said, having a syllabus for every one of your classes takes away a lot of stress and anxiety as well. Youre gonna do great!! It may take some getting used to the first week or so but youre gonna do just fine. And if you need support I and many others are here for you. Good luck!
