The Role Of Trust: What Is It?

Dear May, yes, it certainly makes sense- very much so.

I think frequently people are dishonest because they fear being honest, or the repurcussions they anticipate that are attached to it, or they are ashamed, or even in denial. But for whatever reasons- I only know of those which have been my own- I don't think it is ever recommended to accept lies as truth, in the regard of enabling behaviour. But, like you said, it is not for me to judge and I think it helps very much if the fear can be reduced (for yourself or others) to enable one to speak or 'be' truthful on their own, or to come forward and take responsibilty.

I am so sorry your predicament is so difficult and gut (and heart)-wrenching:(, try to ask your heart-of-hearts what you should do, and take care of yourself, (((xo)))

Junebug, you put into words exactly the issues that revolve around trust in relationships and in ourselves. Sometimes I think that trust is relative, and no one is "wholey" trustworthy or untrustworthy. But it is hard to make a true assessment as sometimes that "black and white" thinking gets in the way.

I know there are people I can trust in some areas, but not in others. Same with myself, and since I am the only one I can control, I need to become as trustworthy as I can. But shame is such a hard thing to overcome.
