@Snowflake Having the clean MRI must have been a huge relief. I had lumps taken out of both my breast. No cancerous, but still nerve wracking. I was asleep for one, and wide awake for the second. When I get extremely nervous, I get silly and crack jokes. Humor can be such a huge help sometimes. Anyway, I did nothing but crack jokes, say really off handed things, and made my surgeon and nurses laugh so hard, that 2 times he had to stop the surgery to control himself. Dr Curletti was one of the best breast surgeons we had in this area.

I know how anxious you are, and I feel helpless to help you.... just know that I do care, and I am praying that everything is ok, and that you will be ok.... :hug:

@Snowflake Just some :hug:. Hope you are doing ok. I know that the closer Thursday...

Omg met with surgeon/Doctor yesterday-brought up all the stages of treatment and how each one extends life expectancy. Ugh..I have stage 1 at this point-I have no intention of dying -I know a lot depends on lymph node biopsy etc. surgery is 2-2 1/2 hrs-two incisions -ugh, scared.

@Snowflake

psychooncologists usually work close with you, your partner, doctor and in some cases with a social worker, so that you are always kept in track.They try to take care of your emotional needs, fears during all the treatments and sideaffects. I'm sure its similar in the US too.

Yes. Its helpful I have heard. After the surgery, patients are being sent to a rehabilitation centre for about 6 weeks to recreate, and regenerate. A friend of mine didnt want this after surgery, but they advised her to do so for the healing process.

@Snowflake Ok, the surgeon will usually make the incision on the very outer part of the areola to minimize any scarring. With both of my surgeries this is where my surgeon made the incisions. So not very noticeable at all. Now, they do have to do what is called a wide excision to make sure they get clean margins. So this means he will take out MORE of the surrounding tissue inside your breast and not just the lump. They do this, to make sure they get all the cancer so they don't have to go back in later.

I know your scared, but you will do just fine. Stage 1 is WAYYYYYYYY. Better than stage 4, so keep that in mind.

The other thing..... My best friend of over 30 yrs, was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma, graves 4 and the centinal node was positive. She had 22 removed from under her arm. She never did any therapy, and only that 1 surgery... That was almost 20 yrs ago, and she is doing fine..... so take a deep breath, and try to relax....:hug:

@Snowflake Just a quick note. Wishing you the best for tomorrow. Try not to be anxious/nervous. I know that's like telling an earthquake not to cause too much shaking. But, try....you'll do fine, and I just know everything will be ok....

:hug::hug::hug: And :poop::poop::poop: on cancer!!!!!!
