Hi I'm a secondary sufferer, my husband twitches terribly in his sleep, not sure if its ptsd related, hes ex forces, it seems to go with the territory as they see horrible things throughout their service. Its kicks, nudges, jumps, some muttering includes arms and legs. sometimes it wakes him up but mostly it just keeps me awake. I think it gets worse with stress but sometimes there seems to be nothing but as he gets older its getting worse and I just wondered if there was any treatment. It cant be good for the twitcher, surely it can't be quality sleep with all that dancing and kicking. Joking apart I'm shattered but i want to help! is there any hope?

Welcome to this boards @saratonk. My husband does the same. I am not sure if there is any treatment. Sorry. Maybe it helps to know you aren't alone :)

thanks lemontree, i have a friend whose husband is the same, another ex-forces. i have named and shamed my hubby into going to docs today by posting a link to this forum and putting it on facebook and tagging him in. feel a bit guilty but at least he has gone. wouldnt be so bad if we had a spare room! honestly some nights i'm so tired i could cry!

I understand what you mean because I have a twitcher, a toddler and a baby.

He also yells and sometimes he does not come to bed at night and I have to "get him" or he'll sleep in unusual places (I am afraid for his health). I wish I had a solution for this problem.

If I find one one day I will instantly share it.

By the way somehwere I heard that this might also be an early sign of Parkinson's disease.

Well he's gone to doctors so will let you know what doc says. I threaten to beat him to death with the alarm clock, it's hard but sometimes you have to laugh -)

Yes please let us know what th doctor has said! :)

I wonder if I should start my own thread about dragging hubby to bed at night... I think I will do this instead of hijacking this.

It's not nice for them to know they are disturbing their wives! I'm not even sure it's ptsd but after googling I read so much that pointed towards it, he hardly ever remembers dreams but he is clearly dreaming, as he mutters and moans as well as kicking and twitching. And he sweats loads!

Please take the link down. You're being cruel by outing him. It is not your story to tell, not now not ever. And, Facebook has no privacy so it's now out there and you very well just set him up for future discrimination.

I think he should be seen by a doctor (but like you said he already went there today). My husband also sweats a lot and had trembling hands and we thought "That's PTSD" but we just found out that his thyroid is not okay. That's the reason for sweating and trembling.

So it's possible for a person to have two diseases.

But the twitching has no link to the thyriod issues? I've heard magnesium and calcium may help. And solara we have lots of ex forces friends and many ptsd threads, he gets tagged into a lot so they can be passed on to friends. I didn't give personal details but because I posted it and tagged him it's made him think. I didn't give his personal details x
