What Did You Eat And Drink Last?

Cornmeal porridge with raisins, topped with soft sweet potato chunks and sliced banana. It was so yummy! My first time making it! I don’t know why it made me so happy to eat it, I think it was the bright sunny color and light sweetness combined with the warm soft feeling.
 
Sourdough toast with butter and haldi chai, which was a royal treat—a good weekend morning beverage. Haldi chai is basically chai with turmeric. Here’s the recipe I used for two servings:

In mortar and pestle crush 4 green cardamom pods and a cinnamon stick (I didn’t have one, so used powdered cinnamon). Put in small pot with one cup of water, 6 peppercorns (didn’t have so I just sprinkled pepper), 1 1/2 inch grated ginger and 11/2 inch grated turmeric. (I imagine you can use powdered for all the spices.). I added the sugar to this part (1T) but it says to add it at the end. Simmer for about three minutes. Add 1 1/2 cup milk and about a tablespoon of black tea. Simmer for about five minutes. Strain.

Deep rich flavors!
