Gyro Meat!!!

It’s an experiment to see if I’m allergic to it. So far? My mouth burns but I haven’t blown up like a pufferfish , so fingers crossed that’s cayenne, & not dairy.

Last had Chicken wraps, with soft white corn tortillas. Never been able to get those in this country before and I like em so much better than the cardboard dull wheat ones.

So many foods taste good cold! I have a very old encyclopedia of French cooking and it seems like almost every dish can be served cold, especially meat and veggies. I learned that in the old days of banquets the food was often served cold because it took so long to make everything that by the time they served it most dishes had cooled down, and leftovers were super common for breakfast.

The last thing I ate was Ghormeh Sabzi and rye toast.

Yep, yep! Most of my Mediterranean cooking is designed to be served at room temp. Far better flavour/ texture/ etc. Back when I used to cook 4 meals a day for 20 some odd people? I cooked Med almost exclusively, for just that reason. Load up the table/sideboard, & people eat when/what they wish. Clear it a few hours later. Repeat.

Hummus on toast. I made rice and beans last week, adding sour cream, guac, and salsa to it, and it was sooooo good. I need to make another (maybe a double?) batch this weekend. My faucet is leaking in the kitchen, and I can't afford to get it fixed right now, so I'm doing all the dishes in the bathroom (harkens back to the 3 years my mom did them in the bathtub), so I'm not terribly fond of getting pots and pans dirty.
