What Is That Low Voltage Sensation?

@Anarchy the worst flashback today while mowing the grass. On a scale 1-10, it was a 8. As I've posted, and noted, this low voltage sensation always before the more severe flashback. I was sweating but not from mowing grass, it's cold, windy, and it's been overcast. I saw things, that have been absent in previous memories, or flashbacks. I felt the oxygen mask on my face, heard the sound of high flow Oxygen, and I felt my body falling into shock.

I felt restless all day and unable to just sit down. I had to get up, fiddle with this, fiddle with that. The flashback was very much a body sensation hitting me at a thousand miles an hour, sensory overload. I feel feverish, the sensation of the fridge door squeaking in my hand made me jump out of my skin and fired a rapid flashback. Minor in comparison to this afternoons. My brain feels as if I'm hung over but I am certainly chemical free.

I have therapy in the morning with the counselor and after that I walk down the hall and see the Nurse Practitioner. I know she's going to add additional medication as well as start me on anti-depressants. I need them, watching our life implode, or lying here in the rubble of what once was, has been heartbreaking.

@Chava thank you also, you've given me more information to follow up. Tonight, I'm taking my medication early, and hopefully going to sleep. It doesn't help I am having a cup of coffee but the smell of coffee and the warmth is reassuring.

I'm confused on the new quote features. Anyway, I don't have visual flashbacks of any sort but get past and present all glued together in a bizarre meltdown way.

Love, love coffee but I can't have it in the evenings. I'm the loser who will take decaf just for them coffee-flavor and warmth. My doctor told me to quick smoking after I went in for an EKG and I did, for a few hours.

@Chava I don't usually drink coffee (LOL, this post suddenly reminds me of the "Most Interesting Man Alive commercial...I don't usually drink coffee, but when I do.") But I don't usually drink coffee after dinner but it grounded me and made me feel safe. So, I will take the caffeinated snap for an hour or three, and take my meds and go to bed.

I had therapy yesterday with my therapist and I saw the Nurse Practitioner. I discussed this issue with the N.P., and she increased the Neurontin to 900 mg and I'm supposed to follow up next week for a possible increase. The therapist, and NP have referred me to a specialist. I'll have 3 providers looking under the hood at this point.

Hi @Wounded Scribe . I have had small jolts of a strange sort but it's so hard to know if another person's sensations are similar to one's own! In my case, I've had a lot of partially numb muscles that never released, and I just assumed I had tighter muscles than many people for decades. It never changed much, though exercise has always let me feel more "in" my body in a way.

I've been getting massage regularly by a couple of wonderful practioners (feeling safe with that seems crucial) and am becoming more aware of some of these muscles; it's sort of the deeper muscles, not the surface nerves. As I become more aware of a muscle area, there can be some trembling and a bit of a jolt or jolts. The muscle area sometimes seems to have vague emotions connected to it that I need to pay attention to. I can move my attention away from it and ignore the whole thing, at least at this point...

While the process is pretty unsettling, there can also be a feeling of relief with this when I am letting it surface, so at least there is something nice about it.

If I had to totally guess based on all the parts of this, maybe my brain is trying to reactivate some connectivity somewhere, but it's not totally smooth?

Every time I start to believe i have a unique symptom, I stumble across it here eventually. I have had that electrical "hum" most of my adult life. I can really identify it now that it's gone. This whole journey began with me seeking treatment for ADHD, which I thought was my problem, (i had no idea the gravity of my problem). The adhd Dr. Prescribed me "Intuniv", (Guanfacine) . It's a non stimulant ADHD drug that reduces activity in the amygdala, the motor stuff. I've also had restless leg syndrome for about 20 years. Both things vanished immediately. Certainly not the end to my problems, but it's a jumping off point. Thanks for the confirmation of this symptom. Best wishes.
