Wish I Could Get An Emotional Support Dog.

My dogs are not trained or certified for anything, and I am an inexperienced dog owner, but having them has been life changing and I cannot imagine my life without their unconditional love. The benefits are amazing, and immeasurable. I feel safe in my home and when I go to sleep and wake up, and when I'm not doing well I have their companionship and love to soothe me. It's better than pills. I hope that you find a way to get an animal into your life. They are amazing.

I just wanted to second pit bulls as unofficial therapy dogs. I got mine as a rescue years ago and he saved my life. He still will not leave my side- he sleeps with me, walks right behind me as I get up and walk around the house, wants to go everywhere with me if I'll let him. He will even follow me into the bathroom. He starts whining if I am stressed out and will lay on top of me if I'm sad. He will silently attack anyone who he thinks is hurting me, stand in front of me if he thinks someone is threatening me, and barks if anyone goes past my home too closely. With a little training on my part, he is gentle with cats, and he's always been gentle with kids.

therapy dogs.

Emotional support dog is what you are describing but they do also make good therapy dogs which therapy dogs are for others. Hospitals, elderly homes, sick kids, that sort of thing. Therapy dogs are not for you but for others.

They also make great service dogs and many pitbulls are service dogs. Just search youtube "pitbull service dog".

Also The Champions on Netflix is a documemtey about Michael Vicks fighting pitbulls. One of them is now a therapy dog when previously he was used for fighting. Speaks to how well these dogs bounce back!
