Childhood Trying To Understand My Orientation

It seems to me this has wandered a bit from what the OP was posting about. @Teddy Bear do you have more questions or want to share more?

Something to keep in mind is that sexuality is not as fixed as people tend to assume. Perhaps you don't need to worry about putting a label on yourself.

For me it was really difficult to separate out what was a result of my abuse and what was who I am. EveHarrington brought up a great point. Looking through the lens of what damaged my healing made it easier to figure things out.

@Teddy Bear. Are you clear on the idea that if you're in a heterosexual marriag...
I don't see it as accusing. You are just trying to clarify. Yes I do understand that and I wouldn't ever cheat on my wife ever. As far as I see it, no one can give me what she does which is more than just love and sex, she supports me, keeps me away from things that would potentially do me harm like scary movies or music and encourages me to keep an open mind. All within love and respect. If I was to cheat then I would be throwing all of that away for what a worthless night of meaningless sex. Again as I said I don't say you are accusing, I am simply stating my view.

That is a whole other topic.

But I will have to agree, I'm guessing that the OP is talking about more...
Sorry I had to take a mini break for Thanksgiving and breathe. You guys do help me sort out a lot of stuff but sometimes I just need a breather. Um yes we are talking about a more conservative christianity here with closed marriages but I'm not saying I will shun any LGBT because well *coughes* hello...lol it would be contradictory of me to do so I would say.

@Mal Content Actually, polygyny was a fact of life in early Christianity. It was the Romans who were monogamous -in marriage, although sex slaves & pleasure slaves & concubines didn't break marriage vows, they could only take one lawful wife at a time- but both Judaism in the time of Jesus, early Christianity, and the common practice of the Middle East -before Islam- was polygyny. It wasn't until the 600s? (I think) that the practice was outlawed in Europe, although, as stated the Romans were against it, they weren't as against it as the Greek practice of a wife at home and a male lover at war & at work. That part really drove the Romans absolutely insane; in no small part because it meant the Greeks could keep troops out fighting for years without loss of morale, although there's also the theory that the Romans descended from an outcaste group of Spartans, which was the only city state not to practice wife at home & male lover in the field (granted, they also didn't practice raising your own children, and many other things, that the Romans did... But colonies always change culture rules). Either way, though, it was hundreds of years after the birth of Christianity / Death of Jesus that both polygyny & homosexuality were outlawed. So, if he disapproved, of either, he certainly didn't say so. The European Christian Church during the Middle Ages up to the Reformation really reminds me most of modern Radical Extremist Islam. Outlawing everything left & right, reigning terror, restricting freedoms, committing atrocities... It was a really dark time.

@Friday if that was in reference to my New Testament open marriage comment, I was referring to adultery, not polygamy. The comment about Mormonism was the only evidence that I knew of for Christian polygamy - Christian being the faith that sprung up long after the death of Jesus.

Judaism and Islam are a whole different kettle of fish. Or lox.

So say screw society, I am me and my orientation is nobody's business. I know it SEEMS like it's a big deal because it's all about pride but really if you don't want a rainbow parade and you just want to live and let live and not go shout it from the rooftops, then just say "I am me" and have that be that. There are MANY non-straight people who don't care to have big coming out parties so to speak because sexual orientation is a part of them rather than what defines them.
