I'm sorry guys, my body crashed, hard. I was up until 7:30 ish am and fell asleep and stayed asleep until 11pm yesterday. I asked my dad if Chopper (my service dog in training for those that don't know) asked him to take him out as the last time he was taken out was 3am and I saw his collar wasn't on. He sleeps naked at night. My dad said no and that he didn't move from my side all day and night. He glued to me after the big fight last night and was on and off doing DPT and I guess he stayed there. I guess thats more of a definition of an ESA but he is task trained. It just suprises me on how much more he is tuned into my emotions since training then how he was before training. That suprises me. Not caring about his own bathroom needs cause his person isn't ok.
Anyway, woke up at 11pm last night and had to go back to bed to wake up at 8am as I have my therapist today.
@The Albatross, I"ll be looking for another job. My only good prospects is Apple Care (at home), Spectrum has 2 call centers. One in Maitland (close) thats a customer service call center and one in Orlando (about a 30 min drive down 1-4) that is a tech support call center, and the building I live behind that used to be the company that just fired me and where I used to work and the only reason I live where I do, they are a 3rd party company that takes calls for other companies. I used to work for one of those in Ft Myers years ago when dial up was hot and DSL was just coming out.
All are prospects. I have done customer service and dont mind that. I just want a job that pays enough. Apple Care denied me last time I applied but will apply again. They pay the most.
Spectrum is my next choice as that is my cable company and you get free cable when you work there. Or when it was Bighthouse you did per their techs. He said free everything up to the highest package they have. So that would be $200 less to pay and get more stuff if thats the case.
The one across the street either arent online or I cant find them. I tried to google with the address. Will need to go over and find out. What was good about working there is the abilty to walk over when I had no car. So if my car breaks down there yeah. Also was able to come over on lunch and take Chopper out. But 3rd party companies usually pay shit in my experience but my dad knows all the neighbors business and says many neighbors work there and said that pay was ok. But what is ok? And normally these are people with two working people in the home. Or more.
My dad said he would start working again and I quickly said no. He had come out of retirement once and I dont want that. He is 75 and his health isnt as well as it should be if he is working. He can sell ice to an eskimo though and there are PLENTY of telemarking places here and vacation rental and vacation sell places here. But i still dont want that. I can sell but my experience with it and with commission is that its WAYYY too stressful and my anxiety just can't handle it.
Work at home is hard with others living in the home. But I can buy a laptop and a noise canceling headset (if allowed). I can make it doable. But will be hard for them to not yell at each other as they do all day.
Anyway, looking.
I have been to a number of business conferences, and you know what they are saying people really need? IT skills. Not degrees.
To go into any place in IT, I need to finish my knowledge. I am self taught but during my time of trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go (as IT is a broad term of a million different directions) I think I settled on networking. It is the most loved of all areas and because of that I have the most knowledge in networking but not enough to get a job in Networking. I can finish the self teaching as long as certifications arent reguired as they normally are as nothing backs my knowledge

Certifications are about $200 a piece for the test. For Cisco Networking Certificates, there are 2 to be Entry.
In addition I know a ton of programming languages but all are half way learned. I can fully read and write HTML and build websites as well as manage them and did so for small businesses that couldn't afford to pay those with a degree but it isn't much money at all and was doing it to have something to do. I stopped a bit over 2 yrs ago when my body started to crash as I couldn't do it anymore. Each business I was helping have IT people now. They were found by word of mouth so not even sure how to find that now.
I have also built many desktops out of free broken ones as well as laptops. I have not gone as small as mobile devices yet.
I am now learning Unix programming as well as Linux (I heart Linux) as Android is built on a Linux kernel. Pick apart Android the base is a Linux Kernel. I wanted to upgrade phones soon so I can root thia one and play with it.
Anyway, I can finish the self teaching if I knew specifically what was needed for a specific job. My dad asked his ex neighbor (whom is IT in a law office) if his company is hiring but I need to know specifics of required skill sets so I can go online and finsish self teaching.
I'd pay for certificates if I knew what was needed for a specifc position.
COBRA may be an option for you to keep the company health insurance a little longer, and that would give you more time to figure out healthcare and what's going on.
I'm just not sure how to pay for it. My dad offered to pay more but that's another $500 or more plus $1300 for rent and bills here and unemploment is 60% of my wage I believe. Actually I believe thats short term disabilty but its not as much aa my wage and the only time I took that out I was living in my dad's house and didn't have all of these bills on top of me.
What about an online school? Even brick and mortar schools have online education programs and paths to get all kinds of degrees. Heck, there are even online law degrees now. Working with your state's voc rehab program might make going back to school more doable.
Maybe the State vocational rehab. Online schooling I still have to take out enough grants to pay for the school and enough for the bills. And most places go off of entire household income. My dad makes about $24,000 but he has his car & the insur for both cars (mine is his name as insur is way cheaper) and my step mom's self pay doc & self pay meds. And he has been buying food for the whole house.
If you have to go file for food stamps.
Food stamps also go off of total household income. The previous times I filed I could hode his income and file as homeless (sorry but in the US, where its literally impossible to get help, you sort of have to) and I can't do that now as both me & my dad is on this lease. They will check and will find that if I claim it. Then they will easily find my dad's income and never take in what we all have to pay. So though I will file for it, getting it will be an iffy and if so how much will likely not much. Last time I filed I lived in my dad's house so it was easy to say I was homeless and hide his income.
His income is more now do to his veteran benefits increasing. But how much he can spare, I'm not sure.
GO TO THE SS office and file for SSDI. This is ridiculous. You are basically disabled because of the fall you had, and you have PTSD. I know people that don't have half of what you have and they get SSDI. So go and file for it.
Issue is, while waiting, I can't work. Unemployment even with my dad's income I don't see being enough even if we turn off the cable and lower the internet. And then ObamaCare my step mom filed for and never took it out as it was crap insur but basically you pay them and then the governmenf later determines how much they aill pay. They aren't awake but how I remember that happening. And they never took it out but the insur company is saying they owe the money anyway. Its crap and if my step mom cant get covered and COBRA is another $500 or more, how do I pay that?
The US literally makes it impossible to get on SSDI. I agree I should be on it but how the f*ck can I without someone actually supporting me fully while waiting, I don't know.
I have art that no one wants to buy and can try to draw/paint again but I tried to sell prints befofe and no one wants it so I am just not sure how to get money under the table. The savings I have with my 401K won't last but a few months and likely less then that with COBRA. And if I work, SSDI is out. Its the sane catch 22 that you are in.
If you could go to school, what's the job you'd like the degree to get you?
Computer Science
Where do those people work?
Different places. Usually ITs for companies. Every company that has PCs have ITs that fix those PCs.
What can you do now that other people need done?
Without a degree or certifications, I don't know. I used to be a 'go to your home and fix your PC' person but that was also all word of mouth and didn't pay much. It was also under the table income (as I wasn't an actual business) and wasn't my day job because the total income from it wasn't enough. I can't call those people as they have all moved on and have different phone numbers. It was years ago.
I dont think i have any other skill that people need. I can learn anything but I dont know.
I've worked in IT for 20 something years. I don't have any degrees in IT. I have degrees in Business/Marketing. I was making over six figures at my last job when I was laid off in March and I was an IT config analyst. My closest friend builds the programs that control robots in car manufacturing companies, again, he's never been to college. He also works from home, and I was working remotely out of my home for 5 years.
How did you find the job? Can you find the needed required knowledge? Not like what they put on the application but more then that? Cause, my knowledge is parts. Parts of everything and will need to self teach the remainder of the needed required knowledge.
Or if you can type that out that would be cool. Thay way I can have full knowledge in the required areas.
This may be your open door to find a better job or get more schooling that fits your skill set and allows you to maximize your strengths.
Maybe but my first issue is how to not be evicted and have my electric turned off and how to stay going to Drs and how the hell to get enough income now.
