Weighted blankets

Has anyone here tried the weighted blankets for help with anxiety, nightmares/sleep? I’ve been looking at them for a long time...they aren’t cheap so I just wondered how much they help. I hate to pay that much just to TRY something, but if it works it would be worth it. I wonder if it gets too hot?

Also...I don’t like the feeling of being “held down,” I would hate to wake up from a nightmare & feel like that’s what was happening because of the weight but 15lbs doesn’t seem like that much.

Does weight/pressure in general help you calm down? Maybe you could try an experiment with other things before forming over the $$$ for a blanket?

I only calm down with weight/pressure on certain parts of my body, so a big blanket would not work.

.....and this is exactly why I can’t use a weighted blanket. Too much weight on me at night just makes my sleep worse. (And that’s with regular blankets! I dare don’t try a weighted blanket). 15 pounds is a lot heavier than you think if you need free body movement during nightmares.

I've a very small one, scarf size that I drape across my shoulders. It's the perfect weight (had it for years, so am forgetting how many pounds), soothing without the sensation of being held down and I LOVE IT!!

There is quite a long older thread on this on the site. Around 3 or 4 years ago I think. It may be int...
I felt I was specific enough, thank you. And yes, Amazon is a good place to conduct a bit of research.

@BoN-bOn not sure if this is helpful, but ages ago I looked in to them too- terribly expensive. I also wondered if the 'feeling' would be intolerable (being held down), and also re: temperature/ breathability, and washing it.

I found 2 strange things, accidentally:

1. The only night for sure I could usually sleep was when I washed my sheets- thought it was the 'freshness' but now I realize it's because I make the bed so tight (and I have it against a wall), and secondly,
2. Sleeping in as little clothes as possible (despite my inclinations to ~'be prepared for anything') seems to send a msg to my brain that "it's ok".

Not the same thing, but I wonder if #1 accomplishes the same idea?
