You’re being serious while I’m joking. I started this thread as it’s funny to think about sex offenders being barbecued!

You don’t live in my country so you don’t know about prison politics HERE. It’s a well documented phenomenon, even one that notorious criminals cannot escape.

@Ronin I have to disagree about something. We do tolerate them.
After a child molester is proven guilty, they are given three squares a day, a roof, clothes, access to secondary and or post-secondary education courses. For free no less.
Prison is probably more dangerous for that type of inmate, but it's dangerous in prison for everyone. Bad things happen to inmates convicted of tax fraud, just as happens murderers and drug dealers.

After completion of sentence, they're allowed to live among us, work and have fun among us. In places like the US, where it's easy to find out who and where they are. There's nothing stopping an army of people from lynching these offenders.
Yeah, it's illegal, however a group of a several thousand people all converging on that one address in a residential area is likely to overwhelm any attempt to stop them. Yet this doesn't happen.

If we didn't tolerate them, they would be summarily executed rather than incarcerated.
Or stripped of their citizenship and banished to whatever country would be willing to take in our countries trash.

As long as they can live amongst us, we are tolerating them.

Watching Grey’s Anatomy doesn’t make one a doctor any more than watching TV shows about US prisons makes one an expert on US criminal justice and prison life. TV prison is not the same as real life prison.

Furthermore, in terms of convict justice, if you are referring to prison violence, I believe that this principle holds true no mater the country: Assault is assault. Rape is rape.

Not justice.

Perps deserve to face justice. Traumatizing perps, most of whom will be released back into society, doesn’t exactly help society or repay their debt to society. It leads to criminals being more likely to offend again.

I’m all for justice, completely... but not mob revenge. That only turns victims into perps and perps into victims. Never mind the innocent and the less guilty getting thrown in.

Prison violence is the cycle of abuse just rounding the corners again deeper into the spiral when people call for lawless “convict justice” inside prisons.

Torture, including death by hotel arson, is against the law for good cause.

While their victims - you know - you and me - go to therapy, lose all of our friends, can't work, most likely go homeless, collect Social Security which is poverty level at best - substantially below poverty level here in Canada. Disability here doesn't pay for our getting an education. Doesn't pay for our therapy. Doesn't pay us enough to be housed. Constantly puts us into positions to be re traumatized and re traumatized.

I actually thought about going to jail as a safer option than living on the streets. Dead with 3 squares or dead in a ditch. Hmmmm. Oh! And here in Canada? They give fully subsidized apartments to people released from jail before people who have been their victims. Truth. Saw it 20 times while in shelters. This is so f*cked up.
