Sensory Overload?

I used to pass out when my senses were overloaded. Which was always for about 7 years. I don't think you need to have autism to have this type of behaviour. My therapist shook her head when I used to think I was autistic. No, she said, you are traumatized. It makes sense because the nervous system baseline is jacked up. I think the name of the game is to reduce stress as much as is humanly possible in order to give your nervous system a break. That means building a plan to manage stressors better. You may find that your hypervigilence naturally eases.

Honestly it's pretty irritating. I went into my psychological evaluation being pretty clear about my disdain for misdiagnosis. I know like I'm not a professional, but I'm a very mental health/psychology informed "sufferer" and also very self aware. But anyways, it honestly doesn't matter if I have autism or don't, I do have PTSD and if things overlap and autism help and coping mechanism works for me then that's the point.
There are a huge number of disorders with sensory processing, overwhelm, and misc types of meltdowns as symptoms. Offhand? I could name at least 2 dozen, possibly 3-4 where it’s a common byproduct, if not a symptom in and of itself. Like, with ADHD & Autism & SPD it’s a symptom. Wih PTSD and many others it’s a byproduct of other symptoms.

As well as? Other disorders and conditions. From countless causes.

“Hypercausis” for example, is extreme sensitivity to sound. It can be caused by half a dozen medical conditions (commonly) 100x that number incidentally, a double handful of neurological conditions, and 8 times that number in psych conditions.

Finding the SPECIFIC cause, for any symptom in a vacuum? Is like trying to figure out if a hoof print is caused by a horse (and what breed?) or a zebra.

Makes total sense, what a maze
