Dealing with loss of interest in enjoyed activities

What happened prior you lost interest in activities you previously enjoyed? Do these formerly pleasant activities feel now threatening/triggering? Do you get enough sleep or food so do you have energy to get out of your bed?
Before I enjoyed them and did them happily with no avoidance or anhedonia. It puzzles me why favored activities are targeted. I just now had a major breakthrough as I watched "Inside Out." Watching DVD's was an activity I avoided/lost interest in. This viewing was the first in a year. I recently got back the joy of making The Walking Dead music videos, also avoided for over a year,

Your comment reminded me of my experience this week: I have had a really tough day and nothing seemed to go right. Even the weather was horrible (gloom and rain). I felt very negative of my future (as a courtesy of work stress and doomscrolling) and I felt like only trying to sleep most of the afternoon. Then a friend asked me to arrange a meeting for next weekend. This cheared me enough to go out even it was still drizzling. After an hour I felt a bit better and even my feelings relating to future had more optimism. It was revelatory for me how much a mind state can affecte our prediction of the world even as world hasn't changed in a few hours time. Depression can be like a black fog which covers everything and hinders one from even seeing familiar things as pleasant

THANK YOU FOR SHARING! I am sorry about your tough day. I am THRILLED you bounced back 👍! Please keep me posted, as your success story is wonderful and helpful! And yes depression is a black fog.

I just get angry with myself yelling at me "You ain't going to get better just lying there in your own pity party."
Does it work? For me yes, but it was one hell of a stress inducer to go back to one particular pastime I loved, rifle shooting.

So am I back doing that? Sometimes but occasionally, just every now and again, I still see faces where the target should be.
I used to stop there and then and not go back for a few weeks. Until a PTSD Bud pointed out.
The more you see those faces, the less impact they will have.
Know what, he was right.

Also? You can’t hit what you’re aiming at unless your breath & heart & muscles are your own. TREMENDOUS trick for managing PTSD, shooting. ((Similar to singing, for those musically minded.))
