Does Anyone Else Do This When Asleep?

My family recently told me when I am sleeping, if they come into the room, I will sit up, stare at them with open eyes. Then lie back down and go to sleep. They told me they can tell I am still sleeping so they do not wake me. I just have no recollection of ever doing this?

Has anyone else been told they sit up in their sleep???

I do all sorts in my sleep, peeling off wallpaper, having conversations, even woke up half way through making a cup of tea once. Pretty common with PTSD/dissociative conditions, but even my little boy who has not been traumatised can laugh (which is so delightful to hear) or sit up in his sleep - some of it is probably normal.

No idea. My hubby just woke me up one night telling me I was picking his nose and I was getting angry because ”the dam was closed” and I wanted him to open it. Apparently I got a booger and I wanted to put it in his mouth and he wouldn't open up. I was so confused when I woke up and he was laughing so hard. I haven't tried to make him eat boogers anymore, but I still try to pick his nose.

I've been told I don't do much in my sleep except for jerk, grind my teeth, and one time woke up crying for help. @ Anna, not to make light of or pick on your sleeping activities but your description reminded me of the scene in paranormal activity when the wife woke up and was standing at the end of the bed watching her husband for hours and they caught it on tape. I know it's not the same but it just reminded me of that.

Once my husband asked me if I remembered my dreams/ nightmares from the night before. When I told him no, he said Thank God. He told that I had sat up and stared at him with horror struck eyes and then went back to sleep.

I don't remember any of this and glad I don't.

Very rarely have I woken up in a different location. The times I have I had walked from my bed to a couch to sleep on the couch. As far as I have heard, I often flinch and cry in my sleep.

Not often but I have woke up, sat straight up, and just screamed normally loud enough that I wake myself up (and anyone else around) I am normally drenched in sweat and shaking but can't remember what happened to cause it. Most of my nightmares I remember but those ones I don't.
