Achy Feet Anyone?

Yes, I have a great deal of pains throughout my feet which seem to be better at times, while suddenly progressively worse. I cannot pin down what exactly causes my different types of pain and discomfort. At one point it was plantar fasciatis (incorrect spelling) and it was suggested that I roll a very cold or frozen bottle of spring water underneath the arch. And also that I do foot stretches and buy adequate sneakers or shoes with a low arch.

The plantar fasciatis went away and in other areas so has abrupt sharp shocks and stabbing sensations for the most part. However, I do now get aches on a single heel, knots and muscle spasms in a single foot, very achy toes and as of late sudden, unexpected pain as if just that moment a part of my foot broke.

X'ray's have revealed a degenerative process and minor bone spurs and yes I agree that acetaminophen and ibuprofen don't help any. When really painful, I use icepacks wrapped around my feet, a cane and crutch, 800 mg of ibuprofen, a heating pad on my lower back (that shuts off if I fall asleep) and yet often I choose meditating while tolerating the pain over misuse of ibuprofen or flexeral for foot and calf muscle spasms.

I just remembered too that 750 mg of nightly Valproic Acid really helped(s) lots with random stabbing, pricking nerve shocks and its pain.

Brittany, I do hope you find what's causing your pains and how best to help it. One thing I'm pretty sure of is that where it's inflammatory ice works best and where it's achy heat works best. Check with a specialist on this for answers suited for your condition. I wish you well.

You don't say what shoes your wearing... and it is recommended to switch up shoe types now and again. You don't say anything about your arches (flat or not?)... my mister has flat feet... and he wears arch supports. A very easy thing to try is a water bottle (16 or 20 ounces) and you tip a bit of the water out and put it in the freezer... when it freezes, you can roll it under the foot, like sitting in a chair or the edge of your bed 3-5 minutes only on bare feet... but up to 15 or so if you wear socks. It is an effective cold treatment because it constricts the blood vessels and reduces inflammation... IF there's any inflammation.

Agree too, if the condition persists, yup see a podiatrist. Could be any number of things, my mother-in-law had a bone spur and had a procedure to have it removed, for example.

Added in edit: just saw the frozen water bottle technique was already recommended. Whoops.

I am headed to see a podiatrist in a few weeks. Not exactly speedy...I am using the frozen water bottle already, but I don't know if it's inflamed. I have flat feet too and am extremely picky about shoes. Finding shoes with arches is tough, but I loathe inserts. They hurt even more!

I tend to carry stress in my feet, so when the hypervigilance is acting up my feet will hurt and cramp up worse than other parts of my body. I second epsom salt baths. If you can, getting a massage or acupuncture will help too.

I have been telling my dr for longtime. my feet hurt so bad at times i have to plan how to move my foot for each step. I am told i am hyper vigilant (since Jan 2016) i notice i tense my toes alot. The ache is daily and volteran doesnt help. i take a epsom bath and temporary soothes but after i get out and walk within minutes it will hurt again. I am also on Valproic, propranolo, prasozin, prozac, naproxen, seroquel, and topical volteran.

glad to know i am not alone with feet aches that hurt so bad it is disabling for daily life. Recently the pain hurt so much that i did not notice i burned my feet in an epsom soak. It is like my temperature sensors are faulty.

Thanks for sharing
