Arguments Make No Rational Sense

This is exactly how my sufferer used to be. It was before I knew he had PTSD, maybe a little after too. It was so weird because he'd say he would text or call and then he wouldn't and later or the next day he'd ask if I was mad at him or if I forgot him etc. The weird part is that I knew he what he was going to do, I could kind of predict it, and I knew something wasn't right. But he was also so sensitive and came on so strong, but I knew the stuff he was going to do, and I knew it wasn't a game with him. I knew there was more to it, but I knew it instinctually, not because I actually knew anything factually about him having PTSD or PTSD itself.

I think for me that's part of the attraction. It's sounds stupid, but I feel like part of me understood it before I knew what it was. Of course there's still so much I don't understand. Since learning about PTSD I think one of my family members suffers from it and maybe that's why I "sorta kinda" get it. Idk. It's so complicated. I guess I'm just in for now and as long as I can, until I can't anymore. But any tips or advice on how to make it better on both of us is always welcome!

I have NO idea how to respond when he's being SO irrational and refuses to see it. Does anyone else experience this, either as a supporter or a sufferer? If so, can you PLEASE help me make sense of something so beyond comprehension?

As I read through this thread I was reminded of an argument between my SO and myself that was about a stray cat that had wandered into our front yard. She absolutely despises cats and quickly hunted it from the yard. The thought of touching one or having one touch her sends her gagging. Then she says to me, "Come take a look. It's actually a pretty good looking cat." So I peer over the fence and that was the end of the whole interaction with the damn cat.

A day later, she becomes triggered by something and after about an hour of her yelling, and me not giving her the fight she was looking for, this is how it ended...

Her: I saw the way that you looked at that cat! Don't even think about denying it! It was like something possessed you and you just NEEDED to pick that cat up and hold it and let it rub all over you.
Me: Umm, what?
Her: DON'T DENY IT!! I saw you! You had this weird psychic connection with that cat and I could see in your eyes that you wanted it to touch you!
Me: Ok. Well. I'm having a really hard time trying to understand and respond to you right about now. You were the one that told me to come look at the cat, which I did. You were also the only one that mentioned anything about how good looking it was. As for the psychic connection and possession you believe you saw, I'll just leave that with you to think about as I go do something else on my own for a while.

I walked out of the room and nothing else has ever been mentioned about that part of the argument since :O_o:
