Right then, I do not intend to pull any punches in this thread so look out

I have posted recently all about my medical issues with Epilepsy, heart attacks and "suspected" Strokes.

Well today I have had the latest in god alone Knows how many tests. It has been finally confirmed that I have in fact had a full stroke, not a mild or mini stroke.

How much more shit do I have to go through?

I sort of figured since you had some paralysis that the stroke was at least moderate rather than a mini... but it was a suspicion not a fact. Very sorry Laurie that this has happened to you. Ya may want to ask them to check your vision... it's not uncommon for vision to be affected or change due to a stroke. So if it hasn't come up yet, you might want to ask?

Sorry bro... just take good care, as best as ya can now, K?

I saw the consultant who ordered a Carotid Ultrasound which threw up an abnormal blood flow in my left carotid artery.

I am f*cking sick of being sent or taken to hospital this much, just shoot me and let's get over it !! I don't wish nor want to be a burden on anyone.

Laurie, you know I hold you in extremely high regard and value you as a friend very much but I am going to give you a stern talking to now!!

You are not a burden to anyone! I am sure that there are a whole host of folk on here alone who would love to be able to take you to your hospital appointments, to help you and to just be there for you. Sadly we are all far flung around the country or around the world which makes that difficult to happen but you are most definitely not a burden to anyone. You are unwell and that cannot be helped. What is important is that gradually they are getting to the bottom of your health issues and from there they will be able to give you the best treatment for it.

You Mr Laurie are a good, generous and kind hearted man who is always prepared to give his time and support to us all and I am sure the same applies to your family and friends. If one of us said that we felt that way you would be down on us like a ton of bricks, supporting and loving us as you always do. Now it is our chance to be able to do that for you.

Big hugs to you hun and try to look at this as the start of you getting the treatment you need and deserve, seeing it as a positive thing rather than a bad one. You are no different to the person you were yesterday or last week or last month. the only difference is you know more now and so do the doctors which can only be good.

xx

I don't know if this will be a supporting thing to say or not - but it's pretty likely, after having a TIA, that one will have a stroke, unless one begins medical intervention. Meaning - it's more like the next domino to fall, than being an unexpected development. I am sorry for what you are going through.

The carotid artery showing plaque doesn't confirm stroke - did they give you more specific info? And are they starting you on any medication?

Update. I have received the consultants report and he had diagnosed officially a right lacunar stroke with left sided weakness.

I am to be prescribed Clopidogrel 75ml per day to combat any further issues with the strokes.

I am regaining the use of my left hand slowly but can at least open my fingers partially now.

Some relief after all the health problems recently. :)
