Asking For Opinions

EMDR (eye movement desensitisation therapy).
I am not trying to be pedantic here but just pointing out that the R stands for reprocessing. I was told that the reprocessing part can take up to a week. It carries on after the session which is why you feel so knackered and washed out after the session and for days at a time thereafter. It is why you should not have EMDR more frequently because your brain is still working on one thing and you are forcing it into the next before it has finished.

I have some abuse so brutal that the therapist has asked to write a paper on it.
It sounds as if your T is using you as an experiment. It would be interesting to know if she has used this technique before, or if you are the first. I would also be interested to know if she sees it as a success and will be pursuing it, perhaps encouraging others to do the same?

Does anybody else have issues with emotional overload on Sundays or any other downtime day? Today I have been in a constant state of emotional overload. Spent most of the day sobbing and sobbing uncontrollably along with throwing up and not being able to stop.

Hi erasjkhanson,

Welcome to the forum!

Personally, I have not done EMDR as my therapist didn't think I was stable enough to handle it. From what you have written, it seems that you have done some really intensive therapy and you should contact your therapist or another mental health professional to get assistance with learning how to mange the emotional fallout. (Sorry but I could not think of a better term.)

Check out some of the threads under Therapy and especially EMDR as there may be information you will find helpful. I hope you found some relief after this weekend.

Debbie
