Desperate For A Good Nights Sleep

I've been on melatonin 10mg to help me sleep especially for when I have y phases of night terrors/nightmares. The problem is that it's not working anymore. I keep having night terrors and its fighting the effects of melatonin so I can't sleep. Has anyone had this occur to them? I'm desperate to have a good nights sleep.

My PCP tried me on Vistral. Works for some in reducing the flash back night terrors. Unfortunately for me it made me fell like I was on 20 cups of coffee. It is a blood pressure med, but was found effective as an aside. Drugs.com has a good site to find detailed info and very detailed reviews on all meds.

My new med is Buspar and is helping. Can't do SSRI's. Don't want the benzo addiction route. So good so far, only 2 weeks in. Not a miracle, more than a bandaid.

Not being able to sleep is the worst! I haven't tried melatonin, but am currently using Vallergan (alimemazine) which works well for me, although I do get a bit of a hangover the next day. Everyone reacts differently to meds though, so I don't know if it would work for you too. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Sorry to hear about your sleeping issues. I do understand as I've had them my entire life. I don't find melatonin helpful. I still take it along with Prazosin which is suppose to help ease flashbacks and nightmares. I have yet found a difference, but I know others find huge relief with it. I wish you all the best, and hope you are able to get a good nights sleep soon. Hang in there.
