You may want to ease up on the processing. Only you know your tolerances, but I likened it to draining reservoir. Sure you could blow up the dam and let the water drain in a destructive, overwhelming flood. After all, it would have been better if you never built that dam to hold back your emotions.
Or, you could let the water drain in a manageable stream that you can process at your own pace. When the reservoir is empty, you can safely dismantle the dam.
