There's a few things I just hate by association- certain TV programs, mostly things I never cared for to begin with. One of my abusers was quite keen on a certain superhero, had a lot of tee shirts. That superhero is now a foul villain in my mind, it's in a lot of bad memories. I've never cared for comic books, but that one? Yuck! Haven't given it much thought, but it's probably part of why I quit smoking pot too. I don't want to stink like those people.

@Kas_Can_Fly I bask in the rebellious things too! It started before I understood PTSD, I went on a rampage. I've done most of the things I was told not to even think about doing, and they were quite fun.

I do that but not intentionally. For me it's more of a nauseated feeling when I encounter something I associate with one of my abusers. Not so much an active thought like "my abuser liked Elvis, therefore I hate him". It's that certain things are a trigger that manifests itself in different ways. Some things are a bigger trigger than others and elicit a variety of physical reactions ranging from minor discomfort to extreme panic.

I liked red wine till a now ex girlfriend was constantly verbally and sometimes physically abusive when she drank it... now it is off the menu period for me. maybe slightly different reason I saw it as kind of the weapon used if that makes sense. cheers have a brilliant day.
