In my opinion, I think it depends on the person. Some people can handle life changing bad news well and some cant. Triggers usually can be traced back to the trauma so it depends on that too but it doesnt have to be a trigger to effect someone to then isolate. Theres the then flood of emotions that we cant sort out, being overwhelemed and the stress cup is overfilled so we cant handle anything thats even remotely irritating or just too much in general. Sounds and smells can overwhlem then so that they need to isolate to deal.
My mom currently is dying of retical cancer. She was moved to hospice just a few days being at the cancer hospital and isnt expected to make it much longer. She was also one of my main abusers. This turned my world upside down where i was going off blind rage exolosions everywhere and could not get a handle on it. Im still in it but as of yesterday am more focused but i am isolating because everything is just too much. I had to leave the forum for a day as other posters were setting me off. But she was one of my main abusers and she can be traced back to my trauma. I also didnt learn a ton of DBT stuff, mindfullness, distracting, distress tolerance before this so i dont have all the tools needed where if i did i could manage it better so it depends on whom has cancer and how well the person can manage their stress so my answer is it depends so yes and no
