Thank you Into the Light this really does seem to be a nice place to learn and share. I'm also checking into some of the books that are listed at the headers of the pages, and think they may be quite a help as well. :)

The books I list here into the headers, still a work in progress, are books I personally recommend as helpful to learning requisite aspects of PTSD and understanding concepts that will assist in those specific areas of logic and reasoning. 95% I have read myself, a couple of them I have on my reading list as highly recommended to me by relevant PTSD experts as providing something knowledgable from.

Anthony thank you for your insight. :) I worked through "the Courage to Heal" as a teen and young adult, and that book had mixed results for me. At the present though therapy is not on the table and I'm hopeful that a book or two may smooth the edges a bit. 'Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma', 'Self Administered EMDR Therapy..', 'The PTSD Workbook', and 'Achieve Anything in Just One Year' all seem pretty interesting. Have you read any of those? If so do you- or anyone else here have reviews posted? I love that there are recommended books as they are at least a great jumping in point when choices can be overwhelming. .

I have read waking the tiger, the self administered EMDR I would not recommend due to the specifics of EMDR requirements, hence it is not here, PTSD workbook I have read and done, and the last is a solid motivational book.

I have some others on my Kindle already, locked and loaded, and hopefully will get through them on holidays, starting tomorrow.

I'll look into Waking the Tiger and the PTSD Workbook a bit more then. :) My husband/best friend is supporting me in this and has done a great deal toward lightening the fears I had associated with delving back into healing. I use Kindle on my iPad and think I'll be getting one of those two books today. Thank you Anthony for your advice. :) Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Welcome Glitter Kitty, I have been on hiatus for a little while but am back now. I was born with PTSD so I don't always feel human LOL but so glad to welcome you, this site has been a comfort to me off and on the last several years!

Welcome to the forum Glitter Kitty, nice to have you here. Yes there are many broken people here that have either been super glued together, or held together with duct tape, but we are here for one another. You will find lots of really good support here

@Glitterkitty Do you realize how huge the title statement "I am a human being" is?

My abusers did everything in their power to make me feel anything but human, and they largely succeeded. A human being is someone who is equal to others; a peer. They are someone deserving respect and decent treatment. They deserve to be treated, well as a human. So for you to recognize your humanity is a big step. It means you understand you deserve to be treated decently, and not the way your abusers treated you.

I truly hope you not only recognize this, but you also realize that you need to treat yourself with decency and respect as well. You are, after all, human.
