How to make requests on the job?

In addition to the Rec-Center (best homeless tool EVER is some kind of gym membership for daily showers & a place to keep fit :tup: ) don’t forget airports & hospital waiting rooms for 24hr free places to read a book &/or free wifi. Once you have a car, their parking lots are bonzer, too. Always people waitin around and or sleeping in those lots. No one blinks. And they have security, for added comfort. Ditto, a car spot at a truck stop is $5 (free showers). So if you can 12mo lease a car for $129 or $229 a month? Even more options open up.

Seriously,.. look into leasing a car for a year, rather than renting, if buying isn’t an option.

I looked into leases, but not sure if they will run from me due to being mid-bankruptcy. I was actually surprised I was even approved for a rental. Planning our how I’ll make it all work. There are airports near me....

Debating if I should try to see if any of my friends who have a second car would be interested in letting me rent from them on the cheap for the two weeks I need the car for work, or I’d also be glad to do it in exchange for work for them after this job has ended. If they can do it for a low enough cost or for work or higher payment after this has ended, I can keep my place. I am super duper leery of doing that with a friend, but I guess I might as well ask. I guess? Ugh. I haaaaate asking.

So... on the theme of making requests... I asked a few friends to pray for this job. I did not tell them I was planning on giving up my place for a bit. Just said I'm trying to really do well in this job and I don't have the car to make it happen, but wow, I can't believe this is even offered to me. That alone is new after years of no open doors, and I asked to for prayer that my nerves would settle and relax because I have a solid role now.

Two people have said they may have a car I could just straight up borrow. I didn't even ask about that.... I can't even call them back. I just want to RUN. These are not well off people. One of them even offered driving lessons since it's been so long since I've driven. I almost cried. I would so love that. Even if it's just that....

I don't know how to handle this. The position may have already been given up, I'll find out in a week. But just knowing I have people in my life that are this kind despite my messy self? shiesh. So much newness.

I hope things are going really well for you. If you haven’t taken your friends up on their offer of using the car, I’m going to tell you to do it.
But, I want you to look at it from a different angle. What if it was you offering? You wouldn’t offer if you didn’t mean it, and you would feel good about being able to help, right? So take your friend up in the offer. Keep track of the miles you put in the car and insist on pay them the going rate for mileage. ( I think it’s $ .41.
