Welcome VCC, I'm a cop and can't tell you how many times a dispatcher saved my ass. I didn't know how much MY dispatchers meant to me untill one day about 15 yrs ago a dispatcher named Rhonda was the only reason I was able to go home to my kids. I was dealing with a victim who had called from a payphone (not too many cellphones then). Rhonda had a feeling something was wrong, told me to answer the payphone. She told me something was just not right and I should check the purse. When I asked the girl if I could look in her purse she jammed her hand in the purse and pulled out a handgun and pointed it at my head. We fought over the gun and I got it away from her. She later told the investigator that she hated cops, her life and wanted to take out a cop before she died. Needless to say after that anytime a dispatcher wanted a pizza, they got 5 or 6 steaming hot. Don't ever think of anything you've done as failure. There were plenty of times you did something you didn't realize that let a few officers go home after the shift ended. Dispatchers are always the "not so silent partner". Again Welcome.
