I have a hen sitting on Partridge Brahma eggs, which has the laced feathers like a Dark Brahma but is a soft brown. I ordered Cuckoo Marans eggs, 6 of them, so I would have dark eggs, and I still want to breed Polish, so I ordered 12 Polish eggs since shipped eggs don't usually hatch as well. She sent them 4 days late, so did me the favor (?) of sending me 10 extra. :wtf: Now I have 36 eggs incubating.:wtf: That means even if half of them hatch, I'll again have 18 chicks! I already have a buyer for some Polish, but you know how that goes...:chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken:. I don't want to think about if any more of them hatch! :eek:

Great pictures @DharmaGirl !! Ladee has grown so much, she is not a baby anymore.... her coloring is so pretty... looks like she is a happy and content girl and knows that she is safe !!

Hope your buyers come thru... risky business , chickens... !!

All of this is hard work, I know, but also has to be very theraputic knowing they count on you to get up in the morning... really hope you are feeling much better... Haven't bugged you about the babies... knowing it's busy time and PTSD has to rear it's ugly head too...

You are doing an awesome job hon... a lot of responsibility and work, but Ladee looks great, just strutting her chicken self around the pen.... sending you so many hugs for doing this.... always look forward to hearing from you, and not just about the chickens... give her a kiss on the head if she will let you catch her !! :hug::hug::hug::hug::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::chicken::)

She ate out of my hand yesterday. Rooroo, Ladee, Eva all did, even though Eva was afraid and screeched the whole time, lol. It's funny when they talk with their beak full! Falcon couldn't bring herself to do it. I have time to work with them now, and clean my house :bored:. I don't mind outside work but inside work is boring. Ladee and Rooroo have their big girl voices, no more cheeping for them. Off to go dust.

How awesome.. and hey, just pretend the guys and girls need you out there with them... house work never ever ever is finished.... make memories with the babies turning into stunning adults... glad they are eating out of your hand....

You actually dust??? Damn... I'm so impressed.... I have a house full of rocks... THEY are supposed to look dusty, thank goodness... give Ladee and the group kisses if you can catch them !!! And lots of hugs to you for keeping me updated on Ladee with her big girl voice !! She is such a beautiful color.... lots of hugs and love !!!

@ladee, little Ladee has new friends! All 6 Marans hatched but one died. Only the hen knows why. Here are their baby pictures at 2 days old

And love the colors of your chicken house.... wish I could be there... watching the babies grow and getting to see ladee in real life... thank you for sharing these precious babies.. needed this today, to remind me of what is important.. friendship, thoughtfulness, and chickens...

No, that's the mom who sat on the eggs. I'm hoping Little Ladee will go broody next year, so she can raise some chicks.

Here is Lil Ladee and Rooroo hanging out on a plastic grass saver. When it grows tall enough, they eat it.



You can't tell from the pictures, but lil ladee is still a lot smaller than rooroo. When they run or walk, they are in tandem. They are like little chicken soldiers, lol.

Here is Mr. Moonlight in his new digs.


He slept outside last night for the first time with his 14 friends. It was 61 here. They were all snuggled together, lol. It will be 96 today. They have areas of sun and shade all day, and ice water and watermelon too. They are still too young for grapes, unless I want to cut them up, and I don't.

wow man, little Mr.M! so psyched to see him fo the first time! funny the two of us will be snacking on watermelon today. I went to costco yesterday to get one so I could have it when I got home today. The coop looks super nice. I'm so happy you posted this today.

There we are @MrMoonlight, in the most awesome Chicken coops on the planet having @DharmaGirl taking care of us... There will be healing for both of us with DharmaGirls thoughtfulness !!! We will get care we never received in real life... Welcome to the brood MrM !! What a little handsome guy you are !!! And was so brave and slept outside last night. !!
