Every morning the flock (except for the babies) comes to the door looking for treats. I usually have cooled down oatmeal for them, they love it. I feed them in the small plastic yogurt cups so everyone gets some. I put a plastic cup in the babies pen, and they were afraid of it. The one who is a week older would peck the cup, but no-one would touch it otherwise. I poured some oatmeal out and Lil Mr. M recognized it as food, grabbed as much as he could hold in his tiny beak and ran away with it. Everyone chased him instead of eating what was left. He ate his on the run, and came back and they all realized the cup was not scary, but had wonderful food in it.

LilLadee prefers to eat out of the big bowl, which I call the red bowl of happiness, with Rooroo. They wait for me to look away, dodge in and start eating out of the bowl. It's kind of funny - I want to lick the bowl!!

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that @MrMoonlight and I have the best mama on the planet... and happy to hear littleMrM is going to be the leader of the chicken pack... !!! That will make him so happy when he reads your post.

You are so loving @DharmaGirl, so thoughtful. and giving updates, makes my day. And can't think of anyone I would want for Chicken Chatter more than littleMrM....

Lilladee is getting big... and such a proud girl she is... and sweet, brave littleMrM... and he has been one brave little chicken guy hasn't he... !!!

Hope you get moved and find some peace at your next stop. I know that you are bringing a lot of joy and happiness to two people here that are so proud to be part of your little feathered family.. Lots of love and respect for you DG.... thank you from my heart.:chicken::hug::chicken::hug::chicken::hug:

Thank you so much @ladee. The move is going to be slow and so not a big deal. I get to give away lots of stuff, and sell some and keep my chickens including some roosters. It will be nice to have 2 1/2 acres to play with. The first thing I'm doing is planting some fir trees for shade!

Last night LilLadee slept in the coop with the laying hens for the first time. I waited until all the other hens went to bed, then my son and I carried Ladee, Rooroo, Eva, and Falcon into to the big coop. Everyone was fine after LilLadee tried to fly out of a screened window. We shut the window except for a crack and this morning they seemed content. All summer I woke up a little before 5am to let them out, but now sunrise isn't until 5:45, but I still get up at 5. Ugh.

I grew some orange tomatoes and had a handful and one dropped. The girls were enjoying it so much I threw one1 to Dharma. Out of nowhere, LilLadee comes tearing past, grabs the tomato and takes off. Dharma was like - HUH!! A run by tomato snatching. I gave Dharma another and everyone was happy I still brought in 10 for me!

LilMrM had new pictures today since he is growing feathers on his head. It looks like he's sporting a "high and tight" cut. He wasn't too pleased when I brought him in to get my camera, but he was happy back with his tribe.
@MrMoonlight, here is the little guy, his face is a little dirty.

He has beautiful curly feathers, and is smaller than the rest, but he'll catch up. I didn't realize he was smaller until I looked at the last picture. They are always moving unless they are sleeping. They are hoping the cup has food under it, lol. The big black chick is a week older, and a bigger breed. Hope class went well, and I hope you get some rest.

Ha, not surprise lilladee took the tomato and ran... hope she isn't a bossy girl... just assertive... lol..

And look at littleMrM.. is he a beauty!! Love those head feathers... He is one brave boy!!

And not surprise LilLadee tried to get out the window... she was probably thinking, explain again why you want me in here!! LOL, but glad she calmed down.... it's so cool that the ones you picked for MrM and I are so close to our personalities... MrM doesn't know how brave he is, maybe little MrM will show him by example..

just so much love to you for doing this.. means a lot to me.. and I'm sure for MrM also... thank you from my heart. And sound like having more room is going to be a great relief and a great adventure... happy you are getting this new place... lots of love to you for your huge and loving heart.:hug::hug::hug:

I love the way you think of me! When I read how you perceive me, it fills me with happiness. I do feel like a loving, giving person, and it's nice that that part is acknowledged. Thank you!

It has been your own words you have shared here, not to mention taking the time to name a couple of your babies after people here. That takes heart and investment. We all have rough patches. The nature of this beast we live with. And you are loving and caring. I hear how you pay attention to your brood and how you know who is who, they have their own little personalities and you honor that. Just as you do us here. so yes, you are a very loving , committed woman who does her best to make others happy regardless of how tired and upset you might be some days.

That's who you are working so hard to find, what we see already... lots of hugs to you DharmaGirl... lots of love and respect sent your way!!

Oh wow! he's a little rocker with that mohawk. lol what a beautiful little guy dirty face and all. He's growing so dang fast @DharmaGirl , I really thought he was about half that size. He does look a little smaller than the rest though, hope he is okay. The coloration on his feathers is just beautiful as is his new head feathers. I just can't thank you enough, you have such a beautiful heart. I just love reading the snippets of his little life. Growing and facing challenges.:hug::hug:
