I would like to put this to all current members, whether they would like this change to our legal policy, or not, based on copyright ownership versus licensed use of works.
To provide understanding of previous member discussion over the years -- MyPTSD incorporated a copyright policy of all text content posted, not to own the content for ourselves exclusively, but to protect all members that MyPTSD will act, and action, any known copyright infringement of a members posted content by owning the copyright on behalf of all members.
Basically, we act on behalf of all members to ensure a person writing a book, or such, doesn't use another's content without express permission of MyPTSD. We have always given permission to a person who wants to use their own content in such ventures, but exclude any quotations or such of another's content. This is not just to protect public content, but non-public content.
Over the years people have complained about this policy. We have people who don't post because they can't wrap their mind around the scope of why we own the copyright of all content.
So... I want to put this out to all members whether or not they want to change this policy to reflect the general scope of website terms for using posted content, typically: You grant Us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content in connection with the Service. You retain copyright over the Content.
Which would devoid our current legal terms: Unless otherwise noted, all written text is protected by copyright and owned, controlled or licensed by Us. You shall abide by all additional copyright notices, information or restrictions contained in any Content accessed through the website.
Do members, as a majority, want to change to own their content and then have to deal with any copyright infringements themselves, or do we leave this as is, and MyPTSD own all content and only give permission individually per written request for use of their own posted content, on an "as is" basis?
I put this to the members -- as this change would have positives and negatives for you, the user.
