Meds don't seem to be helping. Anxiety level at super high. Not sleeping. Not having nightmares (that I'm aware of), but the last four days have been waking up with super anxiety, immediately thinking about work deadlines that are looming - stuff I've been not been working on. Went into work on Saturday with the intention of getting caught up, but had significant dissociation episode. Started playing games and before I knew it, over 8 hours had gone by.

Centering exercises aren't helping - can't even settle down enough to get too far into them.

I hate this.

Hi Ustabe,

Anxiety can make a person feel overwhelmed and shutting down or escaping are not uncommon coping mechanisms. However, it is important to realize what is happening and do what you need to reduce the anxiety and gain control over your own responses.

Are you currently in therapy as this would be a great topic to address with your therapist? Does exercise help you with anxiety and make sleeping easier? Is it possible to break down the projects into little steps and just focus on completing one step at a time?

I hope you find some information here that is helpful.
 
I am in therapy. Missed my last appt this past Thursday - looked at the clock, thought I had 70 minutes to my appt and actually had 10. Stupid mistake.

I weigh a lot and exercise is tough. will keep trying to break stuff down and do breathing exercises. Just seems to be building up on a daily basis, though.
