My Cat Is Slowly Dying And It Is Destroying Me

I did this inside of animal rescue and as a foster parent. They all left whether it was out to an ad...
I appreciate your thoughts but I accept death more than life. It's the grief from the loss and watching suffering that is too much stress for me. I suppose it is a trigger.

I am not in control of that. I have experts advising me and won't put him down until they say he's ready.

@Knak, please be ok with you choice. You have many people with different views.... my heart goes out to you and I hear you. It is too much for you. Not everyone can handle that over and over. You are very smart to know what you can and can not handle...No judgement here.. I worked with Alz patients. A lot of death. It took its toll on me believe me..
As much as I love animals, I could not work in a shelter. I am still grieving my cat, her name was Diva! And was she ever....I had her for 24 yrs. I will never love another as I loved her.
So, follow your heart, and be proud of the courage you are showing now to be with your furkid... and be ok with you choices... sending gentle hugs to both you and your furkid....

Thanks. I appreciate the support. Maybe I should bypass responses that cover old ground.
You are a mean-spirited person! People here are trying to HELP you here and that should be apprecia1ted, not mocked! Shame on you!

BLOCK YOU!!!!!! lol

Agreed. I wasnt trying to suggest everyone can work around death, just that its not a special sort of person but it can be triggering and you have a right to not want to be around that.

Just please keep aware of when your cat is ready to be put down. Its hard but suffering is worse. Im not saying thats now or any time soon, just that you stay mindful of it...and it sounds as though you are.

A person is not being 'mean spirited' if they choose to not heed what our view and experience is.. it's a personal choice. And her original question was about finding food the cat would eat. She got her answer, and is following thru. And I interpreted what she said about not responding to covered ground, is that has made her choice, and doesn't need to keep defending herself. That again, is not 'mean spirited'.

Agreed. Actually the entire forum works with "take what you can use and leave the rest". It doesnt hurt my feelings if my suggestions arent taken. If they can be used wonderful and if not then thats ok too. All are given to help if I can.

I love animals far more than I do humans. They give us unconditional love--something humanity can never do. I understand the pain of having a sick or dying pet. The best you can do is to make him/her as comfortable as possible, and provide what medical care you can afford. I am a spiritual person, and I firmly believe that our pets have souls also. And, as such, I feel we will be reunited with them someday. Many near death experiences are vivid accounts of being reunited with deceased pets. It is human to grieve, so do so. If the worst happens or has already happened..try to have an open mind and have some faith in what I just said. Petloss.com is a great website for grieving pet owners.
