Pain is always worse for me at night. I never really believed this until pain became a companion and nights became the worst time.
If it gets too bad I have to get up and distract but of course, then I'm sleep deprived and consequently do not cope with the next day as well.
I can rapidly deteriorate if I don't get respite from pain. But at the same time I hold off till I am desperate because I don't want to take medications. I know this is the wrong approach regarding medication though. The experts in pain management promote getting 'in front' of the pain. I am always behind because I want to ignore it until I can no longer do that.
