Pain

Pain is always worse for me at night. I never really believed this until pain became a companion and nights became the worst time.

If it gets too bad I have to get up and distract but of course, then I'm sleep deprived and consequently do not cope with the next day as well.

I can rapidly deteriorate if I don't get respite from pain. But at the same time I hold off till I am desperate because I don't want to take medications. I know this is the wrong approach regarding medication though. The experts in pain management promote getting 'in front' of the pain. I am always behind because I want to ignore it until I can no longer do that.

I feel this. A lot! I know what you mean about the medication bit, I’m the same way, I don’t want to kill my liver or fry my brain! And I just don’t FEEL like MYSELF on too many meds, oh man that could be s thread on it’s own! And I have to take meds for psychological problems as well as physical , as I imagine lots of folks do on here. Do meds wise I’ve worked out what works for me all my medications are prescribed by doctors but I’m not one lol, so this is not advice but might be helpful to someone out there, so.... I limit all pharmaceuticals as much as possible, I’m down to 2 gabapentine, a low dose antidepressant ( I go crazy on too much) and like a low dose of something to sleep. No over the counter Advil or Tylenol, I have a prescription for medical marijuana and cbd oil, which are a game changer, but also not perfect, turmeric curcumin pills for an anti inflammatory, they work better than NSAIDs for me. Still my pain isn’t managed though, but if I take more, then I’m not clear headed, and I need my mind. It’s a catch 22. Sleep is awful, like only ppl with painsomnia know those specific sleep problems. The upside is I will be incredibly well read, and well versed in cinematic history lmfaoo. Hope you find a balance and find a way to get the sleep you need, it’s so incredibly important ?

Agree with this. I recently read that fibro is actually a non-restorative sleep disorder and the first step in effective treatment is working to get more deep sleep. If you haven't read The Fibro Manual by Ginevra Liptan, MD, I highly recommend it. She explains the physiology of fibro in depth and it is easy to see how it is related to PTSD.
