Thanks guys. Matt starts full time school tomorrow and sees his therapist Tuesday. Hopefully I will know more of what is going on by then.

Matt's school called. They are refusing to allow him to attend school full-time. Told me there is nothing I can do about because it's their decision.

Whatever. I ****ing give up.

bec

How can they just deny him? Aren't the schools required by law to serve him? Are they arguing for home study?

How utterly infuriating and frustrating. I hope there are some choice for you and Matt in there somewhere.

They will only allow Matt to attend mornings. Funny how last week they couldn't arrange transportation for him so he had to stay at the hospital to do half days, but now they conveniently can! When I don't want it!

They said it's because Matt was anxious on Friday due to the construction going on in the school. The hospital and school allowed him to leave early that day. Now they won't let him attend full time!

Sad ****ing thing is Matt wants to go full time and they won't let him!

I think I'm just rather fed up with everything and just can't take anymore. I'm at my wits end between Matt's situation and mine.

Bec, I am so sorry to hear all this. You are right, it is utter bullshit but this is another hump. I know you and Matt will find a way. I would like to know exactly who recommended half days and why they did not involve you in the talks. These people do not know Matt. You do. Don't y'all have anti discrimination laws???

It's crap all around for you this week, innit? That's rough, bec. Can he try half days for a few weeks now that he's home, then transition into full days?

I sincerely hope it gets sorted out.

Bec, do they not have TAs (teacher's assistants) for special needs in Ontario? We have them in Newfoundland, my grandson is in school half days on his own and half days with his aid. It allows him a full day of school in spite of his issues. My son and daughter-in-law had to fight to receive the TA, however they went to the school board and were successful. I realize the school board may seem daunting at the moment however perhaps start by enquiring about a TA? It is extremely odd that they are making any decisions without first consulting you.

Yes we have EA's (Educational Assistants) here and Matt has already been assigned one. Matt's therapist is calling the school and will sort it out. She was peeved as what the school is doing is not part of the plan for Matt.

I really like her! :)
