Just made this one up tonight, I hope I can quote myself?

Think of it not as the failure of your strength and courage, but as an introduction to your humanity.

I just remembered a favourite today,

"got to kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight' Bruce Cockburn (song lyrics from Lovers in a Dangerous Time)

I don't know who wrote this.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass through.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain

I HI I'm new here I have being seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist twice a week for two years now .trying to deal with my trauma being having alot of flash back my psychiatrist are trying to deal with them day by day ,but it's very hard.. I have so many ,triggers I have pdst I'am numb most of the time .Reading some of this quotes on here helps me alot .I don't feel so alone.

Here is my favorite quote....
"No one walks on water, so do your best and be at peace. It is all anyone can ask of you and it is all you can ask of yourself."

"Everyday is a winding road...I get a little bit closer to feeling fine"

A lot of songs are helping me to keep going through moments I just didn't think I would be able to make it through. And I can see that the fact that I am listening to music again, is pretty good, even though I have more than made a start in other ways.

Before any of the other good stuff that has happened, or anything I have been able to work through one of the hardest things has been for me to trust, and it is still a winding road, and while I can't tell how long it is... the scenery is begining to look less desolate, and a lot more beautiful. And this is me!!!

It is all good; and right now anything that can constructively help me or any of us to do all this is a blessing. This is the good stuff, these are the days.

quotes

Total absence of humor renders life impossible. Colette

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, and a comedy to those who think.
Horace Walpole (? I think that's who said it)

Never to suffer would never to have been blessed E.A. Poe

Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it. Helen Keller (or was it Ann Sullivan?)

I love the first two. The second two are a little light on fluff. This ones from V. Putin, its a political quote, however I feel its relevant in the sense of how it may feel when communicating;

Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell, and making them actually want to go.

Well it works when I think of most doctors anyway!

Alice - re: diplomacy, reminds me of a funny one my mom used to say:

The definition of "tact" is lighting a fire under someone's ass without making their blood boil, lol.-

If you've got a problem...
don't care what it is...
I can help...
I've got two strong arms...
let me help...

something like that it's from

There were times when I listened to him all the time, it has been good for me,

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." - Carnegie, Dale

"It all changed when I realized I'm not the only one on the planet who's scared. Everyone else is, too. I started asking people, Are you scared, too? You bet your sweet life I am. Aha, so that's the way it is for you, too. We were all in the same boat. That's probably what is so effective at our workshops. When I ask, Who else feels like this? the whole room of hands goes up. People realize they are not the only one who feels that way." - Dale, Stan

"For it is not death or hardship that is a fearful thing, but the fear of death and hardship." - Epictetus

"What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it." - Krishnamurti, Jiddu

"Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours." - Swedish Proverb

"We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more from imagination than from reality." - Seneca
