Snow??!!

My Trip to upstate New York.
I arrived on at my destination on Friday morning. Who knew what we really were expecting. The warning started with the fact that snow as expected on Saturday at 2pm and an estimate of 3-6 inches of snow. Well the snow began at 10am and by 4 pm we lost power. Must add that I am up a mountain in the woods. The whole point of the trip was to go see a friend for a 20th Halloween party and to help him get ready for it. We were expecting a lot of people. Not my favorite thing to be around people. There were only 4 of us up there and that was going to be the total for the night. I was ok with 4 people no one else could make it in or out. I think my friend will be without power for a few more days. Sunday I had to head back to the airport witch was over 2 hours away and took me over 5 hours to get there because the train lost power on the track for 3.5 hours. This was not fun to say the least and my stress level was way overboard. Any way here are a few pictures from the snowricane.

At the start of the snow

We didn't have as much snow but there is still a lot of people without power. Schools are closed and Halloween canceled in some towns. I was really lucky! I have an appointment today so I may actually see what has happened elsewhere. Snow is melting here and no tree damage on my cul de sac. Friends had a big oak across their driveway and I guess many, many without power. As I said, I was lucky!!

My power came back on at 9:30 PM last night. I was never so glad to see the streetlights. Not sure if my town is doing TorT or not. My mom was buried three years ago today. It was her favorite holiday but not mine. I don't like not knowing who is in that costume or under that mask! Thanks for those pictures- yikes!

I am glad everyone was safe! Being triggered is bad enough, but having real "dangerous" experiences feels like more trauma in the making.

My first winter in Minnesota there were over 4 feet of snow here. Now that I am used to deep snow and have discovered the comforts of winter camping and snowshoeing, there is none :(.

I am kind of torn on the prospects of this winter . I generally LOVE snow, as does Bright, but after having two people rear-end me in one month, I am NOT looking forward to Minnesota drivers once it snows.

As soon as the roads are clear, the water freezes, and we have enough snow, we are headed to our favorite winter park, less than 45 min away from my house. My tent is in the sun, so heats up beautifully. Nothing but snow and nature at our front door of the tent. No people in site. The fire pit close by with a view of the area. We can ski, ice skate, and snow shoe to our hearts content... and Bright can eat as much as he wants to with all the exercise. My poor boy actually has to take the hard way by running up and down the wavy hills in that area. I get to take the lazy way around, on cross-country skis. There's just enough speed gathered from going down the hills that I can make it up these mini-hills. I will also post pictures from my neck of the woods in deep snow... :)
