Last point for now... just an "fyi" (for your information)...by and large there are a disproportionate number of codependents in the medical/caregiver fields.

"Enmeshed." Rings a reasonable tone. I do not have conversational access to the woman, but my general impression of her is compassion and intelligence. Maybe. Hard to be sure with a territorial boss between us. My first thought in the sequence - about a year ago - was, "transference." Transferring his feelings for his wife to the caregiver? Co-dependency issues and all?

Family conference. What a lovely idea. Not gonna happen without pretty packages and sportly studs on the silver screen. My husband's only living brother is dealing with the evolutions of Huntington's Disease. My husband feels terribly alone in this. I feel ostracated for the class diffs. White Trash I am. Even do trash art. I often marvel at what our culture calls, "Trash."

The Father in Law is quite smitten. Defends her presence as avidly as he denied he was a battered husband. Legal intervention is the only recourse I can see.

IMHO being in denial isn't very far from being delusional.

Good point. Thank you. There is no doubt he is a master of denial. The battered spouses who stay for the next beating often are. I have even wondered if he is grooming his next abuser... But...

That one sure gets ugly in the thought loops. Fast.
