Tomorrow MRI. Yes its treatable but it's scary and I still ask myself why me???

That's exactly what my late wife said, and no body could answer that question?

Of course we were both devastated with the news, but the worst part was when the doctors told her that she couldn't have any corrective treatment, as her heart was weakened so badly with the emphysema she already had?

We were told that if she was fitter, there was a good chance they could treat and cure it for her, as they caught it early enough.

Which they probably have in your case as well, good luck.

@Snowflake 24-48 hours. I'm sure that wasn't what you wanted to hear. Did you talk with your dr? Did he offer any suggestions? Survival rates? Chances better with lumpectomy? Or chances better Mastectomy? Chemo or radiation after??? What to expect after surgery?

I know that you are probably still in a world of foggy shit and probably not thinking to clearly, I'm just hoping that your dr spoke with you and offered some suggestions......

Keep breathing.... And we are pulling for you.....

Dr spent 1 1/2 hrs with me- 100% survival at this point. He says its small he thinks lumpectomy but it depends on MRI -will know results tomorrow . I will have 5 weeks of daily radiation then chemo then hormone pill. Ultrasound Thursday on ovaries-possibly hysterectomy to stop any cancer growth as well.

Aw Dear @Snowflake saw this earlier, I am sorry to hear. :( I am really glad to hear it sounds like it was caught small & early- usually the only time they'll offer a lumpectomy. They base it on size, % of estrogen-positive receptors (ie, grows in the presence of estrogen, hence why they think usually consider a hysterectomy, to decrease estrogen prdoduction), rate of growth, & presence or absence of spread (metastasis< don't be afraid they'll probably test the whole 9 yards: bone, brain, liver, lungs, lymphnodes (armpit- most common is outer upper quadrant of breast, usually there are nodes involved, scientists think it may begin there, so don't get alarmed more-so if some test positive), mediastinal lymphnodes behind breastbone. If they don't they feel extremely confident it's very loalized). It is easier to treat post-menopausal than pre, & it is always easier to treat the first time.

(Many in my family have it- 10 in immediate family with 3 of those with breast & 8 on the same gene- breast/ colon/ ovarian, possibly lung.)

It sounds like they've been keeping a close eye, which is really great. There is also reconstruction, & if it doesn't respond as expected to treatment (that doesn't sound like they expect that to be the case) & it is genetic, if you agree to join the worldwide genetic breast cancer bank in British Columbia, Canada it opens you up to potentially qualifying for experimental drugs as well.

Many prayers, & much love & support from all of us here xoxoxoxox.

I'm glad you will know results sooner rather than later, but am sorry to hear about the possible hysterectomy. I hear they can do that through small incisions so the procedure isn't as drastic as it once was. That's good news - less downtime and pain. I, too, wonder why your doctor is taking you this route though. I agree with the ultrasound, but also know there is a test for ovarian cancer as well. When I can afford it, I have a pelvic MRI and the cancer test. Perhaps, he's proceeding with an abundance of caution? At any rate, I wish you the best for a good outcome and speedy recovery. Thoughts and prayers are with you. VB
