What A Week...

Yes, what a week. As noted in a previous thread lost. I had been dealing with an issue for a while. My Bruxism is crushing all of my teeth. One in particular has just been pulled. But prior to that the dentist noticed a large mass on my gum. He was worried. "f*ck!" I thought if he is worried then so am I.

I don't dip snuff and don't smoke regularly. I occasionally enjoy a nice cigar though - maybe once a week. I found the aroma of cigar smoke calming. Like incense. It was my 1 hour zen.

Anyway, I have this tumor on my gum by the badly crushed tooth. Naturally I was concerned. Downright worried.

So they pulled the tooth since it was about to fall out in pieces and took a biopsy. I got the results Wednesday...benign. It had a special name. But it was OK. I was elated. I guess it was basically a calcium buildup from the bone damage around the tooth.

When they discovered the tumor 2 months ago I quit smoking period. I have an extensive collection of tobacco in my humidor. Some 10 years old from other countries (wink). You could probably buy a second hand car with it all. I considered burning it all.

Tonight, I sat down and fired a nice one. I spent an hour enjoying the nicotine and sipping some 18 yr single malt. What a great evening.

Tomorrow may be a shitstorm. But today is great.

Yeah, one thing for sure you don't want to hear is your Doc saying that 'they're concerned about something or that they've never seen anything like that before. Best of luck.

That's right Friday. I was going to douse both humidors with gas a pitch a match. I was certain my occasional cigar had caused oral cancer.

I promise, the next time I decide to make such an irrational decision I will consult here first. Some cannot be shipped though.

Thank you. That's all I ask. ;)

Although I'd be wary of accepting my advice. I'd probably have said to light that motherf*cker up... And now where would you be? Needing to fly to Europe to buy unembargoed cigars. That's where. Granted, Europe. Or Israel. Lovely beaches in Israel. (My assumption is no one goes to gitmo on purpose). But several thousand dollars poorer. And then you have to switch out all the rings for Dominican. Which is a pain. Paper cuts laced with nicotine are no ones friend. No ones. But if you had mailed them to us we could conceivably mail (the ones we hadn't smoked yet) back. And I'm sure someone a little less pyro than I am would have suggested it. Really. Just looking out for you, here. In your time of need. In the wake of personal tragedy! Someone (not me) will have good advice.

I appreciate all of the concern.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The darker and scarier anything is, the more I poke fun at it.

When my son was in the Children's hospital for yonks there was this Navy chick whose son was long term, and this Nam guy whose grandson was in for the duration (we competed for biggest gimp) ... And the 3 of us turned the smoke pit into Comedy Central. A proper smoke pit. We even had nonsmokers and med staff in civvies down there (med staff was technically not allowed). Personally, I'm not that funny, but I can set for the spike. I'm only polite and shit (and mind my language) if I don't really give a f*ck. Or am around kids. None of y'all get the Polite Me.

When the doc told my grandfather he had to stop smoking cigars he began to soak them in a glass of brandy and he would chew on them.

Well each of us has a vice. I have already decided these are my last cigars. When they are gone, they're gone.

The biggest thrill i get is opening the humidor. The mixture of cedar and tobacco blends are exciting. To me its like incense. Calming.

Funny thing is, I cant stand cigarette smoke. I used to always enjoy firing up a stinky stogey when at the bar. It would clear a nice radius. Sadly the public smoking laws have taken all my fun.
