What Are You Grateful For Today?

Hi Peeps, great thread!

I am reading a book called Thank You Power by Deborah Norville. She writes that in an experiment, those who took the time once/week to give thanks for that which they were grateful for were more grateful than those who took the time to do it three times/week! They hypothesised that it might be because it got to be a bother for those who did it three times. Apparently it has been found that the effectiveness of having gratitude is in the feeling so just going through the motions listing off thanks is less effective. I found that interesting.

I think she also says, but it was in a previous book I read too that hand writing down what you’re grateful for is most effective emotionally.

I like seeing other’s blessings in this thread though too.

There is so much to be grateful for but I’m going to try my best to be present and from that point say I’m grateful it is a lovely day and the air quality is good!

I'm grateful my son and I figured out a plan for a trash can shelter out of pallets that's not ugly.
I'm grateful that the mailman brings the mail up to the house.
I'm grateful for all the free pallets I found.
I'm grateful for the plans for a pallet based greenhouse I found. Whoo Hoo!

My big goofy bear of a dog. He is the biggest labrador anyone has ever seen, he has a huge voice so we had to teach him early not to bark, settled for not as often. He has learned to talk instead, sounds like a bear in one of those Disney Yellowstone park movies with the overdubbed bear sounds from the 70's. 154 lbs. and I am grateful for all of them, he is a bridge to get me from places I don't want to be to better places in my head. Right here at my side wondering why I would rather peck at the typewriter than be outside throwing tennis balls.......he is a good thing in a sea of not so much and I am grateful for having him

I am grateful for my boyfriend
I am grateful for my job
I am grateful for seeing a decent future
I am grateful for making valentines celebrations
I am grateful for trying to better myself

I am grateful for a reality where I can be diagnosed and seek help. In the course of human history, how many people had PTSD before anyone even knew what it was, before there was any chance for improvement? Even now, when those things are available, how many of us even get to think about having a diagnosis and help? we are the rare few, lucky to be alive in this time and in this reality. Beats the hell out of the alternative realities. PTSD sucks, yes, but imagine a time and place where no one cared about us, much less for helping us. There are worse things than PTSD in this time.
