I was hanging up my husband's clothes the other day and I had a panic attack. The feeling of that damn plastic hanger sends my anxiety through the roof. It also makes my night terrors worse :( I haven't been able to shake this feeling.

Whenever I try to vent to my family or friends I always get told to "Stop living in the past" I wish they understood that I was mentally, physically and emotionally abused for 26 years. But they could careless, they don't believe it was all that bad because my mom put on a front. Ugh they make me so angry and upset that they don't think PTSD is a real condition because I wasn't in the military.

I'm so sorry that your family doesn't support your the way they should. Don't doubt yourself and don't feel bad for your problems. I'm only finding out about PTSD and the way it can be for people who aren't in the military and how it still affects the same way. Trauma is trauma, regardless of where and what.

Have you done any coping skills? Maybe rubbing your hands together, or clapping them, to desensitize them while calming your mind before you do things like that may help you next time. Just a thought.
